My knowledge and experiences all condensed into one place!
(More detailed CV can be provided upon request)
The bread and butter of Plant design, Aveva Everything 3D is the premium design package I am most familiar with when it comes to plant layout and piping design. I have worked on various projects utilising this software across the energy sector ranging from Nuclear and Hydrogen facilities to Gas Storage sites and Onshore Compression plants. Responsible for producing accurate 3D models ensuring Layout and Piping deliverables such as Fabrication Isometrics, General Arrangement drawings and Pipe Support details can be efficiently produced.
During my time as a Layout and Piping Designer I have found myself in many client facing situations. Examples of but not limited to engaging with the client and wider project team during model reviews as well as construction / fabrication teams during constructability reviews of my designs or liaising with site answering technical queries.
Both Design and Draw packages are well within my remit and a full breakdown of my experience of both packages can be provided upon request.
The default application for a large proportion of the engineering industry is AutoDesks swiss army knife, AutoCAD. Over my career I have explored and pushed AutoCAD up to and at times past its capabilities and would class myself as a very accomplished user of the package.
When it comes to more nuts and bolts design AutoDesk Inventor is definitely a favorite of mine. My industry experience working with the software includes but is not limited to preparation of models and assemblies for Finite Element Analysis. Whether it be using various survey results allowing me to produce models enabling competent stress engineers to qualify 'Fit for Service' components. Design for supports / equipment in a seismic environment or design simply for bespoke brackets / mounts.
Inventor is also my personal go to for all of my 3D printing needs. It allows me the freedom to rapid prototype models to a high degree of accuracy. Coupled with my limited knowledge of FEA I can qualify mechanical properties within my own designs improving the overall quality of my offering.
It goes without saying competence in Microsoft Office packages are a must in today's world however my knowledge within Excel is worth a mention. I have used excel to great effect when creating schedules / trackers ensuring all information is displayed in an easy to digest manor. One of my more recent experiences using Excel in the industry is manipulating large amounts of raw data output from several sources into one central location. I did this using several nested logic formula (lookup, if, etc) to ensure that the wider project team all completed their work using the latest up to date information.
Competence with various markup tools such as bluebeam revu and various 3D printing slicers and Gcode generators.
I always look to see if there is anything more that I can add to my knowledge base... my latest target is to learn more on Blender / Unreal Engine to enable me to improve marketing material.
I have always been involved with some sort of engineering for as long as I can remember. As a child I was always with my Dad in his garage (Aladins Cave) fixing things, pulling things apart to see how they worked and generally having fun. Little did I know this was providing me with a substantial platform to build a career within engineering. As I got older I learned to weld, machine (lathe and Mill) along with other useful problem solving techniques. Most of the time we would have the 2 stroke strimmer engine in bits or the 4 stroke rotovator engine. My knowledge comes in use when I work on my car replacing and upgrading parts or generally around the house where pretty much everywhere you turn I have a DIY project planned out. When I got the opportunity to enter an engineering apprenticeship I jumped at the chance. Over my career my base knowledge all those years ago in the garage still pay dividends. A side passion of mine is 3D printing. The untapped freedom it allows is unrivaled and I intend to use it to allow my creative side to blossom... make sure you contact me if you feel my services could be put to good use!!
